A Yellowknife man is facing drug-related charges after two ounces of crack cocaine was seized during a traffic stop in the city earlier this week.
Police conducted the stop in the parking lot of a downtown apartment building Monday night.
As a result, Jay Stevens,38, of Yellowknife has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
He’s been released from custody and is expected to appear in court at a later date.
“This investigation is part of our ongoing commitment to reduce the illicit drug trade,” said Cpl. Danny Brookson with Yellowknife RCMP.
“This arrest demonstrates our resolve to not only support the communities we serve but to bring to justice those responsible for the harm that accompanies the trafficking and use of illicit drugs.”
