Madeline Lake fire ‘under control’ outside Yellowknife

The territorial government’s Department of Environment and Natural Resources has declared the fire near Madeline Lake under control.

The fire, which reached eight hectares in size, was first reported on May 14 roughly 25 kilometers northeast of Yellowknife off the Ingraham Trail.

As of Wednesday afternoon, fire crews were still in the area involved in mop-up operations. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

While there are no active wildfires in the territory, the fire danger is currently medium to low across the NWT with the exception of Fort Providence where the danger is high.
