Northwestel customers in Dettah should notice faster internet speeds after the company tripled speeds available to residents and businesses in 11 northern communities.

As part of its Modernization Plan, Northwestel has launched faster 15 megabits per second (Mbps) internet in smaller communities across all three territories.

NWT customers in Fort Resolution, Enterprise and Jean Marie River will also be impacted.

The company says internet users should now be able to browse, download and stream content at speeds of up to 15 Mbps – three times faster than the highest speed previously offered in each community.

“Northwestel is committed to delivering the best telecommunications service to the North,” said Curtis Shaw, vice president of consumer markets.

“These new internet packages will allow customers in smaller Northern communities to connect better than ever before.”

Northwestel launched its five-year Modernization Plan back in 2013. The telecoms provider says residents in 46 communities across the North can expect improved internet service by the end of 2017.
