Have your say on tiny homes in Yellowknife in an online survey

The City of Yellowknife has launched an online survey to gauge public interest in tiny homes.

The survey, which is already live, is in response to a growing interest in the small home movement both locally and across Canada.

City officials say they’ll take public feedback into consideration as they explore the viability of a residential small home zoning designation.

“Residents have expressed a growing interest in affordable housing options, and gathering and documenting this input is important for the city to accommodate residents’ needs,” said Yellowknife mayor Mark Heyck.

The survey is designed to explore the public’s interest in small homes and regulations that will shape the development of small homes neighbourhoods.

Tiny homes have grown in popularity because of how environmentally friendly they are. They also present a much more affordable option for potential homeowners because of diminished construction and maintenance costs.
