Folk on the Rocks reveals first acts for 2016 summer festival

Folk on the Rocks revealed part of its 2016 lineup in Yellowknife over the weekend.

Eight confirmed acts were announced during the annual Spring Thaw at the Explorer Hotel.

Over the past couple months, a selection committee has worked to secure a diverse group of artists for the summer music festival.

Folk on the Rocks organizers expect to announce additional acts in the coming weeks on social media and on the festival’s website.

Acts confirmed so far include:

Tasman Jude
Twin Flames
Lauren Mann
Lemon Bucket Orkestra
Slowcoaster
IsKwé
The Barr Brothers
Joel Plaskett Emergency

Folk on the Rocks organizers say the 2016 lineup is culturally diverse and confirmed artists fit into a number of different musical genres.

“Every year this festival gets better and better and this year will be no exception,” said Camilla MacEachern, chair of the festival’s selection committee.

“Festival goers will be treated to a wide range of musical acts that really showcase the variety and talent our country has to offer.”

The 2016 summer festival will take place on the weekend of July 15. You can buy tickets here.
