Yellowknife Farmers Market still looking for vendors

The fourth edition of the Yellowknife Farmers Market is set to kick off  June 7th.

The market will be at the Somba K’e Civic Plaza from 5:15 to 7:15 every Tuesday evening until September 20th.

Farmers market president France Benoit told 100.1 the Moose that the market is still looking for vendors.

…artisans or food vendors, concessions, produce…basically still looking for a little bit of everybody. We just want to have as full a selection as possible.”

Ideally, Benoit said she would like to have a pool of 60-70 vendors for the entire season, with between 40-50 at the market every week.

She added also that people shouldn’t be afraid of having their applications rejected.

Yellowknifers have so much creativity. We’ve been in awe at times when vendors have come back to us and said ‘I gave you a number of products but I also could be doing these other things’ and the other things have ended up wonderful.”

Unlike previous years, this years’ market will be more spread out, as they now have access to the entire Somba K’e Civic Plaza.

In addition to that change, the market will also be making a big push to go green. Benoit said that it will be manditory for all vendors  to use compostable materials, such as paper, while on site. She added that in the past the market has produced a lot of waste and they’re looking to change that.

If you’re interested in becoming a vendor, you can find the application here.  Applications are due April 24th at midnight.
