Buffalo Airways’ ‘cranky’ shop dog Jojo passes away at 15

Buffalo Airways said goodbye to one of its family members last week.

On Friday, general manager Mikey McBryan announced that the airline’s shop dog Jojo had passed away at the age of 15.

Like every other pet the McBryan family has owned, Jojo was an SPCA rescue dog. McBryan says he’ll miss his ‘cranky’ demeanor.

“Jojo was the shop dog in the backyard and he was always there,” he said. “He was always chasing the ravens away from the food as we were loading the airplanes.

“He always was a little bit cranky but he never went too far away from his place there.”

Jojo was often featured during Ice Pilots NWT alongside the company’s other dog, Sophie, who passed away two years ago.

“It’s tough,” McBryan said of losing another pet. “The dog was part of the Buffalo family for the past 15 years.

“Every summer we’d load him up in the Norseman and take him out fishing. He had a really great life and he ran the whole backyard Buffalo so now it’s an empty, vacant spot.

“For anyone who has a loved one or an animal, make sure you spend some time with them when it’s nice and cold because you never know when you’ll have to say goodbye.”

There was also some drama out of the airline’s Red Deer hangar over the weekend.

On Saturday morning, a 2000 F-250 belonging to Mikey’s brother Rod was stolen from the hangar. But within hours of it going missing, it was located thanks to social media.

Rod recorded a video of himself thanking Buffalo fans far and wide.
