Yellowknife man dies in Highway 1 collision near Kakisa

Yellowknife, NWT – A Yellowknife man has died in a collision on Highway 1 near Kakisa.

RCMP confirmed the death on Wednesday afternoon, with the highway having been closed for most of the day between Enterprise and the Highway 3 junction. The road has since reopened.

The man was 39 years old. No other details about the incident have yet confirmed at the time of writing.

In a statement, the RCMP added: “The name of the deceased will not be released at this time out of respect for his family.”

An investigation into the collision has been opened, involving RCMP officers alongside the GNWT Department of Transportation and the office of the Chief Coroner of the Northwest Territories.
