Yellowknife, NWT – Sport North is now taking nominations from its members for a set of prestigious annual awards.
The federation’s marketing and communications coordinator is Melanie Kornacki.
She says potential recipients will fall under one of several categories: Athlete of the year, coach of the year, team of the year, official of the year, and sport, community and/or corporate contributor.
Kornacki explains what the Sport North Sport Awards are all about.
“It’s a way that we recognize athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers who have contributed to sport in the NWT and we want to recognize them for what they have done throughout the year.”
Kornacki describes how the nomination process works.
“We have a part A and B. Part A is where they submit a name and part B is where they provide the information on what they have done throughout the year, what they have excelled at and what they are doing moving forward.”
Nominations are due before midnight on Apr. 15.
The 37th edition of the awards will be presented at a banquet on May 24 in Yellowknife.
