Yellowknife, NWT – The city of Yellowknife has issued a warning about thin ice on Frame Lake.
City officials say the ice near the Co-op underpass is thin and should be avoided by pedestrians and snowmobilers.
They ask that residents exercise caution on the lake, especially in that area.
Officials says milder weather will lead to melting ice and folks should look for signs of weak ice, including water covering the ice and a change in ice colour from clear to milky.
They say areas around protruding rocks or other objects should also be avoided.
