Yellowknife, NWT – Four overdue hunters were located by Fort Providence R.C.M.P on Friday two days after their expected return.

The men departed from Fort Providence on Wednesday for a day of hunting and had not returned.

The Mounties say they coordinated a search of the hunters planned route with community volunteers Thursday night but had no success.

The men were finally located walking back to town by an individual flying his personal helicopter Friday afternoon.

Police say all four were taken to town and are in good spirits.

In a statement, Sergeant Barry Ledoux with the Yellowknife detachment says fall is a busy time of year for hunters and people are reminded to have adequate supplies, a method of communication and a trip plan in place before venturing out.
