Yellowknife R.C.M.P lay 44 charges after series of drug seizures in city

Yellowknife, NWT – An investigation by the R.C.M.P G Division’s Federal Investigation Unit has led to the arrest of 14 people, charged with various drug trafficking offences in Yellowknife.

Police say 44 charges were laid against the 14 individuals throughout August.

The Mounties executed four search warrants at residences in the city, where they seized crack cocaine, powder cocaine, Fentanyl, Codeine and marijuana as well as an undisclosed amount of cash and a firearm during the investigation.

Police say individuals charged were predominantly from Yellowknife and British Colombia and were between the ages of 18 and 51.

Seven of the 14 charged are due in court on Oct. 21.
